The Clear Brook Band is proud to welcome our new Assistant Band Director, Mr. Beavers, to the Brook Band family!! Mr. Beavers brings a wealth of knowledge and world-class experience to our Clear Brook Band students and team! Mr. Beavers will assist with the marching band and direct the visual program, and he will also direct the Jazz Band, the Symphonic Band, and co-direct the Concert Band with Mr. Hughes.
Please read this message below from Mr. Beavers:
“My name is Robert Beavers and I am incredibly excited to be taking on the role of Assistant Band Director for the Clear Brook High School Band. A little about myself - I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX and graduated from Taft High School, marching in the Raider Band. I earned my degree in music education at the University of Houston’s Moore’s School of Music, playing bass trombone in their premier Wind Ensemble, Opera Orchestra, Symphonic orchestra, numerous Chamber groups, and of course the Spirit of Houston Marching Band. I’ve spent the last four years teaching as an Assistant Band Director at MacArthur High School in San Antonio, directing their non-varsity band, jazz band, instructing the marching band, and teaching the AP music theory program. I’m looking forward to coming back to Houston - my musical and educational “home-base” - and working with the strong team that Brad Hughes, Dusty Norris, and Fernando Rodriguez have developed for the Clear Brook Band!
Mr. Hughes and Mr. Norris, as well as our amazing principal Dr. Staley, have all been extremely supportive in allowing me to be hired while simultaneously touring with the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. For the last ten years I’ve spent my summers on the educational team for the current defending DCI World Champion SCV, teaching their visual and movement program. Before teaching, I spent my marching years as a baritone player, marching two summers with Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps from San Antonio, TX, and five summers with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps out of Rosemont, IL - earning three DCI World Championships in 2002, 2004, and 2006.
I’m extremely excited to wrap up my summer and get started working with such an incredible band program. I can’t wait to meet everyone at band camp!”
We are blessed to have Mr. Beavers joining our program!!! Please help us welcome him to our family!
Proud to be in the land of the free and the home of the brave!
