Dusty Norris is currently the Assistant Band Director at Clear Brook High School in the Clear Creek Independent School District. His responsibilities include overseeing the percussion program, assisting with the concert bands, and teaching beginner percussion classes and sectionals at Brookside and Westbrook Intermediate Schools.
Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Mr. Norris holds a master's degree in music performance from the University of Akron, as well as a bachelor's degree in music performance from Eastern Illinois University. While pursuing his music degrees, Mr. Norris was a member of the 1996 Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp and also served as the Director of the University of Akron Marching Zips drumline.
Prior to teaching at Clear Brook High School, Mr. Norris taught in the Fort Bend, Pearland, and Alvin Independent School Districts. Mr. Norris' teaching credits include eight Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships, three silver medal finishes in Open Class at the Winter Guard International Championships and multiple UIL Sweepstakes awards. In 2016, Mr. Norris was inducted into the Texas Color Guard Circuit Hall of Fame. Mr. Norris is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and is an educational endorser for ProMark, Remo Inc., and the Pearl Corporation.
